FamilyCaregiverNY.com exists to help patients and their families navigate New York’s Medicaid home care system with clarity, confidence, and support.
We guide families through the process of qualifying for Medicaid-funded Personal Care Assistance (PCA) and the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) home care programs, and connect them with trusted, fully licensed home care agencies when appropriate. We do not provide care, employ aides, or operate as a home care agency. Our role is to help families avoid misinformation, prepare correctly, and connect with the appropriate next steps.
We understand how overwhelming the system can feel, especially when a loved one suddenly needs help at home. From the first conversation, our focus is on clear guidance, honest information, and personalized support at every step of the enrollment process.
What We Do
We assist patients and families by:
- Helping determine eligibility for Medicaid-funded home care programs
- Explaining PCA and OPWDD options based on the patient’s needs
- Guiding families through Medicaid application steps when needed
- Supporting required assessments and documentation
- Connecting families with reputable, licensed home care agencies
- Assisting eligible family members with PCA certification through approved partners
Our goal is to make the process straightforward and manageable so families can focus on care rather than paperwork.
Our Approach
Every family’s situation is different. That’s why our intake team takes the time to understand the patient’s condition, living situation, and care needs before outlining next steps. We provide clear explanations, realistic expectations, and ongoing support throughout the enrollment process.
We do not rush families or push unnecessary services. Instead, we help you understand which programs may apply and the steps required to move forward.
Who We Help
We work with families caring for:
Older adults who need assistance at home
Individuals with physical disabilities or chronic conditions
Children or adults with developmental disabilities who may qualify for OPWDD services
Whether a family member becomes the caregiver or another qualified aide provides care, our focus remains on helping the patient access appropriate, Medicaid-approved home care.
